XsunX CTO to Address Thin-film Leaders at Second Annual Thin-film Solar Summit U.S
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., November 23, 2009 – XsunX, Inc. (XSNX), the developer of advanced, thin-film photovoltaic (TFPV) solar cell technologies and manufacturing processes, has announced the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Robert Wendt, has been invited to address over 300 senior thin-film experts at the second annual Thin-film Solar Summit U.S. in San Francisco, CA on December 1, 2009 (http://www.thinfilmtoday.com/us/).
From 1:50 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. at the Hotel Nikko San Francisco at 222 Mason Street, Mr. Wendt will be part of a panel discussion on thin-film breakthrough technology along with industry heavyweights including, Dr. Harin Ullal, Senior Project Manager at the National Center for Photovoltaics at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Koshiro Kawaguchi, Marketing Manager at Kaneka and Mustafa Pinarbasi, Vice President, Technology at SoloPower.
“It’s an honor to have been invited to present side-by-side with such revered members of the thin-film community,” said Robert Wendt, CTO, XsunX, Inc. “As solar energy advances through increased government support and social adaptation, thin-films will play a very important role in its expansion. I look forward to sharing the innovation that has been made in the sector recently, including XsunX’s unique approach that uses the manufacturing processes from the Hard Disk Drive industry.”
The panel will explore the very latest thin-film efficiency improvements and what to expect in the near future with regard to product viability. With more than 15 years experience in thin-film solar technologies, Mr. Wendt will concentrate on the latest in cell and module innovation from a technical perspective, specifically advancements in high-rate single cell deposition of Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide, or CIGS, layers. Other featured topics include: roll to roll manufacturing, alternative encapsulation techniques and ink technology that can produce high-uniformity for your solar cells.
“We believe that CIGS is the future of the solar energy industry, and the growth and increasing popularity of this conference underscores this idea,” said Tom Djokovich, CEO, XsunX, Inc. “We’re happy to be presenting with our peers to propel this sector forward with our unique take on manufacturing CIGS thin-film cells. Undergoing the adaptation of Hard Disk Drive equipment to CIGS process knowledge is no easy task, but Mr. Wendt has already made significant progress and we’re proud to be working alongside such a talented individual.”
The Thin-film Solar Summit U.S. attracts highly respected solar industry professionals including manufacturers, investors, engineers, scientists, project developers, researchers and key service providers looking to push the thin-film industry forward.
XsunX specializes in the development and commercialization of advanced, thin-film photovoltaic (TFPV) solar cell technologies and manufacturing processes. We are currently working to develop new proprietary manufacturing systems to deliver low cost solar products based on the use of CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) solar thin films. Utilizing cross-industry enabling technologies, these systems are being developed to deliver low cost and high yield front end CIGS solar cell manufacturing methods coupled with customized backend solar module assembly and packaging systems.
This CIGS production technology is being designed as a turn-key solution to either enable upgrades to existing infrastructure or to establish new large scale solar manufacturing capacity for the production of CIGS solar cells that can be utilized in a multitude of applications. We plan to offer joint venture manufacturing opportunities for this technology to regional partners in a number of industry types and solar applications.
