XsunX Business & Technology Newsletter

Good Morning,

Fresh off the heels of an on-site customer visit this week, we are excited to provide updates to assembly progress with our CIGSolarTM tool and new licensing inquires from emerging markets.

As many of you may know, the solar industry has been experiencing a dramatic decline in module pricing creating a shakeout and consolidation of industry participants and leaders.  This type of industry reformation is often seen in high growth markets.  But if you examine the data, solar installation world-wide is still increasing, from 19.6 Gigawatts in 2010, 27.3 Gigawatts in 2011, and forecasted for 29.9 Gigawatts in 2012.  Although the industry sure feels like it’s contracting as the enormous oversupply of inefficient manufacturing capacity and products are jettisoned, the demand is still growing.  As this imbalance is reconciled, those of us with new products and ideas are poised to take advantage of opportunities.

An emerging opportunity will be placing low cost production capabilities within the reach of smaller regional manufacturers and start-ups. From interviewing interested new customers we are finding potential licensees armed with support and incentives focused at creating jobs, controlling their long term supply chains and costs (not being dependent on imported solar cells), and intent on selling into their local markets.  XsunX’s modular CIGSolarTM production line is perfectly matched for this type of market and can offer lower start-up cost for these types of customers.

To address these interests, XsunX recently configured a new small business sales program and began responding to inquires that we have been receiving for initial manufacturing formats between 5 to 10 MW requiring only a single CIGSolarTM evaporator. We will keep you posted as these opportunities develop.

In our last newsletter we outlined that our work plan for the CIGSolarTM evaporator was entering a stage focused on detailing fit up assemblies of the vacuum systems and our patent pending evaporation technology. We are installing a more robust vacuum system than what was employed during the testing phase at our chamber fabricator so we have been working with the vacuum components to address final fit up. As a result, two final interconnection parts were configured on-site and released for fabrication last week. And, as we have been working with the fit up and assemblies of the vacuum and evaporation systems, we have also been working to optomize our controls system to further simplify and offer easier access to system management and service.

At this time, pending delivery of a few remaining parts such as the custom vacuum flanges mentioned above, we are growing near to completion and we are working hard to expedite these final assembly aspects – an exciting time for us, our shareholders, and customers.

Thanks for your time, have a great week, and we look forward to sharing our exciting progress in the near future.
