Over the last few weeks, re-assembly and testing of the major CIGSolarTM tool components have progressed very well. So much so that we have now begun to prepare for the installation of the major vacuum components and the assembly of the thermal co-evaporation systems.
The assembly of the co-evaporation system is a stage we have been looking forward to. There are specialized components that make up each evaporation source and parts have been arriving for weeks so we are excited to start the assembly process. Our proprietary system uses multiple copper, indium, gallium, and selenium (“CIGS”) evaporation sources located in zones to allow us to create and control the delivery of CIGS to exacting precision. One of the primary objectives of the design is to control and retain the heat energy within each evaporation source. To accomplish this, our assembly process uses multile layers of titanium and graphite foils and other energy containment assemblies to allow the heat energy to remain focused at each delivery nozzle.
While there is still work to be done, both the new facility and the CIGSolarTM tool provide a great environment to re-engage customers on-site. Now that we have the major chamber components assembled and the material handling and automation working, we have scheduled both American and International customers who are excited to conduct site visits and see the progress of the CIGSolarTM tool. We believe these site visits will be helpful to familiarize these customers with the CIGSolarTM tool while we work with them through the sales process.
You may have noticed that the web link to pictures and commentary on progress typically coinciding with our newsletters was missing today. Our web designer is on vacation and we did not want to postpone this newsletter – we will email the link to the progress update later this week.
Thanks for your time, have a great week, and we look forward to sharing our exciting progress in the near future.
